Golf Challenge Reaps Benefits for All

The annual Morrish Golf Challenge fundraiser was held Saturday, September 10 at IMG Golf Academies at El Conquistador Country Club. Thanks to our event underwriters - major sponsors Crewe of de Soto and the Conquistador Historical Foundation, and supporting sponsors Regions Bank, Demetrio’s Pizza, Morgan Stanley, Conley Buick, Outback Steakhouse, Manatee Golf, and Ophthalmic Consultants – the Lighthouse realized gross proceeds of more than $70,000. The funds raised will benefit Lighthouse programs and services.

Event participants enjoyed the day despite a slight weather delay. Dorothy Naugle represented Lighthouse clients in the Blind Shot Competition, where one member of each foursome competed against her ball. Three finalists in the putting contest competed in a “putt off” at the banquet. More than 80 prizes, each worth at least $50, were donated by individuals and area businesses for the raffle drawing.

The annual Lighthouse fundraising event is named in memory of Dr. James Morrish Sr., who was a local physician, Lighthouse client, member of the Lighthouse Board of Directors, and the originator of the golf event.
